Litigation firm in Brussels
US litigation specialist Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan on Tuesday (18 February) opened a new office in Brussels, headed up by Dr Nadine Herrmann, managing partner of the European competition practice and counsel to Samsung in its patent dispute with Apple. She will split her time between Brussels and the firm’s Hamburg office.
The firm is involved in high-profile financial crisis cases against banks, and prominent patent disputes. It is now moving into the lucrative antitrust sector, in particular in the areas of intellectual property and follow-on actions. A European Commission proposal to boost follow-on actions in the EU is currently being examined by legislators. Quinn Emanuel’s per partner equity reportedly exceeded €3 million in the UK in 2012, almost twice that of elite firm Freshfields.
